On Thursday 24th May, Mrs Butcher took three children to Torbridge High to play Boccia (pronounced Botcha!).
We had no idea what to expect! We were taken into their Sport’s Hall where we had our introduction to the sport. You play against an opposing team sitting opposite each other on benches. A white ball is in the centre between you. Each team member has two balls and turns are taken to try to get your ball as close to the white ball as possible by throwing whilst still sitting down! The balls were quite hard but filled with sand so they don’t bounce just roll.
There were 10 different teams from all different schools and we all took it in turns to play against each other in friendly matches. The scores were pretty even.
A fun afternoon was had by all.
