Plymouth String Training Orchestra

Calling all young string players . . . . . !

• Bored of playing on your own?
• Want to meet other young string players in the city?
• Fancy playing some new pieces in a group?
. . . . then come and join us, at Compton C of E Primary school, on alternate Tuesday evenings from 4:45 – 5:50 pm

We have children from KS2 and 3, who range in experience from those who have completed wider opps experience ( whole class teaching) to grade 4. We have instruments available to borrow during the session if needed. The group is run by 2 violin playing mums who are keen to support a string ensemble for young players in the city. PMEH provided the impetus to get the group started but have been unable to continue to provide a tutor so we have taken it on on a voluntary basis. We both work full time and our work commitments mean that we can’t meet every week, which is why our rehearsals are only every fortnight at the moment. Compton C of E Primary School very kindly let us use their facilities free of charge to support our group. We have already had successful performances on the Hoe at Armed Forces Day, and at Musicality 2019, and look forward to more public engagements as our repertoire grows.

There is no charge for attending this club. More information is available on the PMEH website ( or email the organisers at [email protected]

Our dates for the rest of this academic year (2019) are:

12 March, 26 March, 23 April, 7 May, 21 May, 4 June, 18 June, 2 July, 16 July

Hope you can join us!
